Terms of Use — HideCam
Last updated: 15 August 2026
These terms govern your use of HideCam ("the app"), provided by Mohamed Shifaz ("we", "us"). By using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. What HideCam is
HideCam is a personal recording tool. It captures photos, video and audio while showing a blank or disguised screen, and stores what you capture in an encrypted vault on your device.
2. Lawful use — please read this one
You are solely responsible for ensuring that anything you record is lawful where you are.
Recording laws vary widely between countries and between states or provinces within them. In many places it is a criminal offence to record a person — and particularly to record audio of a conversation — without the consent of everyone involved. Some places require only one party to consent; some require all of them; some distinguish between public and private settings.
You agree that you will not use HideCam to:
- record any person without the consent required by the law that applies to you;
- monitor, follow, watch or surveil another person, including a partner, family member, employee or child, where doing so is unlawful or without their knowledge;
- record in any place where there is a reasonable expectation of privacy, such as a bathroom, changing room, or someone else's home;
- capture images of a person's intimate parts or of any person under 18 in a sexual context;
- harass, intimidate, stalk, blackmail or defame anyone;
- record anywhere that prohibits it, including secure facilities, courts, or venues whose rules forbid recording.
We may not be able to detect misuse — the app has no server and we never see your recordings — but that does not make it acceptable. If you use HideCam unlawfully, you do so entirely at your own risk and are responsible for the consequences.
3. What the app does not do
HideCam blacks out its own interface. It does not, and cannot, hide the recording indicator that iOS itself displays. The green camera dot and orange microphone dot are drawn by the operating system, and no third-party app is able to suppress them. Do not rely on the app to make recording undetectable, because it does not do that and does not claim to.
4. Your content
Everything you capture belongs to you. We claim no rights over it, and we never receive it — it is encrypted and stored on your device only.
This also means we cannot recover it. If you forget your passcode, delete the app, reset your device, or use Panic Wipe, your captures are permanently unrecoverable, including by us. Keep separate copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.
5. Subscriptions and purchases
Capture and the vault require an active subscription or the lifetime purchase.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the same price and period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
- The lifetime purchase is a one-off payment and does not renew.
- Prices may differ by region and may change; you will be told before any change affects you.
All purchases are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple's terms. Refunds are at Apple's discretion, not ours.
6. Age
You must be at least 17 to use HideCam.
7. No warranty
The app is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular recording will succeed. Recording can fail for reasons outside our control, including low battery, insufficient storage, interruption by another app or by iOS, hardware faults, or the device being locked or restarted.
Do not rely on HideCam as the only record of anything important.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, for lost or corrupted recordings, or for any legal consequence arising from how you chose to use the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and you may have consumer rights in your country that these terms do not affect.
9. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may withdraw the app or discontinue features, though we will not remotely disable a version already on your device.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Maldives.
11. Changes
If these terms change materially, the app will ask you to review and accept the new version before continuing.
